Our Doctor

​​​​​Dr. Alan Phillips grew up in Marshall, Missouri, earning his BA in Geography and Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in nineteen ninety-two. He graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry, then served four years as a captain in the US Army—active duty at Ft. Jackson and Ft. Bragg—before returning to the Midwest in two thousand three.

Since then, he’s been a cornerstone at Leawood Family Eye Care, where he partners with Dr. Stacy to deliver exceptional eye care. Alan’s all about going the extra mile—thorough exams, clear answers, and a genuine care for every patient.

He stays involved: Kansas Optometric Association, Knights of Columbus. And when he’s not in the office? You’ll find him cheering for the Royals at Kauffman Stadium—because he still loves this community as much as he loves his work.

He’s proud his kids are in optometry school now, and he can’t wait for the day they come back and practice right alongside him.

​​​​​Dr. Stacy Phillips grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pittsburg State University before graduating from the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry in 1997.

During optometry school, she completed externships at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, where she gained extensive experience caring for patients with glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other complex eye conditions. She also completed a pediatric rotation in Denver and additional specialty training in advanced contact lens fitting.

With more than 28 years of experience, Dr. Phillips spent the first six years of her career in private practice in South Carolina before returning home to Kansas City. She has now proudly cared for patients at Leawood Family Eye Care & Optical Boutique for more than 23 years.

Dr. Phillips enjoys caring for patients of all ages, from young children to grandparents. She has a special interest in specialty contact lenses, dry eye treatment, glaucoma management, and helping patients achieve their best possible vision. Her favorite part of optometry is getting to know families and caring for generations of patients.

Outside the office, Dr. Phillips enjoys traveling with her husband, Dr. Alan Phillips, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on her children as they pursue careers in optometry. She looks forward to welcoming you to Leawood Family Eye Care & Optical Boutique.

Dr. Debra Kirk is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a BA in Biology in 1992. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry in 1996, followed by a residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy. While at SCCO, she was selected as a teaching assistant in both the Contact Lens and Pediatric Departments and received several awards recognizing her excellence in clinical care and patient management. She has practiced optometry in the Kansas City area since 1997. She joined LFEC in 2012 after being a part of an Ophthalmology group practice.

Dr. Kirk is passionate about providing personalized, compassionate care and enjoys building lasting relationships with patients of all ages. She has fit contact lenses for patients ranging from babies to those requiring multifocal lenses and is experienced in the treatment and management of a variety of medical eye conditions, including dry eye disease. She also enjoys incorporating the latest advancements in eye care technology into her practice, using innovative diagnostic tools and treatment options to provide her patients with the highest level of care.

Dr. Kirk has been married to her husband, Jeff, since 1992, and they have two grown children. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, and staying active.
